Product FAQs
What is a router? What is its purpose?
A router is a networking device that connects two or more packet-switched networks or subnetworks. It serves two primary functions: managing traffic between these networks by forwarding data packets to their intended IP addresses, and allowing multiple devices to use the same Internet connection by dispersing the signal via a local area network
(LAN).
What is the difference between a router and a modem? Do I need both for my business network?
The modem is responsible for sending and receiving signals from the internet service provider (ISP), while the router disperses the signal to devices on the local area network (LAN). Both serve different network functions and work in tandem to allow multiple devices to connect to the same ISP.
